It’s official! New Kids on the Block’s Jonathan Knight and his longtime boyfriend, Harley Rodriguez, are engaged. The singer, 47, revealed the happy news during an interview with Jenny McCarthy on Sirius’ The Jenny McCarthy Show on Tuesday, November 15.

“We were in Africa, our parents were there — our moms were there — and I just figured this was the time to pop the question and make it official,” Knight shared of the big moment, adding that they've “always considered [themselves] a married couple,” but that Rodriguez, 43, had “no clue” a proposal was coming.

“We were on the Zambezi River — it’s right above Victoria Falls. We took a nighttime raft dinner, just the four of us out on the river, there was like a hippopotamus in the background,” he recalled. “It was a super moon. It was just absolutely beautiful, it was so romantic.”

The couple met in 2008 and even competed on The Amazing Race together. They previously hinted they were in it for the long haul when Knight added Rodriguez’s last name to his social media accounts.

When it came to deciding on a surname, Knight told McCarthy that it got to a point “where it’s like, ‘OK, somebody’s got to do it.’”

Also on Tuesday, the boy-bander announced, along with McCarthy’s husband and Knight’s bandmate Donnie Wahlberg, that NKOTB is partnering with Boyz II Men and Paula Abdul for the “Total Package” tour. The two groups and Abdul kick off their throwback tour on May 12 and plan on hitting more than 40 cities together.
